LESBIANS MAY LOVE TO CYBER more than any other illicit sex practice. It is possibly the perfect women’s transgression: entails a low risk of physical violence and requires a strong sense of imagination and verbal skill. (Plus it’s cheap!) Given all these wonderful advantages, you’d expect to be able to just Google the words lesbian sex and pull up tons of Web sites and chat rooms created by and for women. Wrong! The cybersex arena is just one more woman-space that’s been co-opted by men. If only some high-profile activist, a serious lesbian lawyer with N.O.W. or Lambda legal group could pull out a cell phone and strike a deal with all those knob-kneed and flat-assed old millionaire white dudes who don’t want women on their golf courses in Florida: “We’ll take care of Martha Burke,” she’ll say. “We’ll give you your stupid old Augusta National Golf Tournament, if you’ll get your cronies to give us exclusive control over lesbian cybersex.”
